The 1968 Shelby GT500 is an iconic and highly sought-after piece of American automotive history. This particular GT500 is of special interest due to its relatively intact original condition and extensive original documentation that includes the original Window Sticker, Build Sheet, dealer invoice and owner card. Sold new from Chaffee Motors in Redondo Beach, CA, this GT500 remained in the family of the first owner until 2018. This time capsule is powered by a 428ci V8 engine and is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission. With just under 36,000 miles on the odometer, its incredible originality attests to its authenticity. The Dark Green exterior is complemented by a black interior with wood-grain elements. It is nicely optioned with power steering, power disc brakes, power convertible top and tilt-away steering wheel. According to known Mustang expert Kevin Marti of Marti Reports, “This is one of the finest examples of an unrestored 1968 Shelby … the rarity of the documents present, along with original parts present, put this in the top three of original 1968 Shelbys that I have had the pleasure to observe.” This vehicle is a piece of not only Shelby history but has become a symbol of true American muscle with its brute strength and superior power.
